BIO
Bruce D Miller is a Nashville based songwriter with over 40 years in the music business. He began his career at
A&M Records releasing his first Canadian Top 5 single, "Anna Marie.” In 1974, David Foster and Gaye Delorme produced his first LP, Rude Awakening at Sound City in Van Nuys, California. From that LP, two top ten singles in Canada emerged, “Summer of Our Love” and “Rude Awakening.” After touring extensively in Canada, Bruce packed up his guitar and ambition and moved to Los Angeles. During his 12 years in L.A., Bruce worked with talented songwriters and producers including Warner Brothers (Marty Cohen and John Capek), Steve Hague (The Pet Shop Boys), Roger Davies Management (Tina Turner and Olivia Newton-John), and Irving Almo Music (Chuck Kaye). Three of Bruce’s songs were cut and released by various artists including “Rude Awakening” for Pure Prairie League, “Virginia” for Prism, and “I Could Get Used To This”, co-written with Jan Buckingham for Johnny Lee. All charted multiple weeks on Billboard. His “Magic Night”, co-written with Moon Calhoun, was used in the John Travolta and Jamie Lee Curtis movie Perfect. Bruce soon moved on to Nashville signing on as a songwriter for Fame Music. The Muscle Shoals company promoted Bruce’s music, landing him some of his first big successes worldwide. The #1 song, “Fear of Being Alone,” recorded by Reba McEntire and co-written with Walt Aldridge sat in the top five for eight weeks in the U.S. “Once You’ve Loved Somebody,” co-written with Thom McHugh and recorded by the Dixie Chicks sold over 12 million CDs. Several other recordings soon followed, including Rascal Flatts “See Me Through”, Bryan White “Everywhere I Turn”, and Eddy Raven “Everything Sounds Better in French,” co-written with Walt Aldridge. Bruce's songs have sold over 20 million copies worldwide. Before returning to Nashville in 2015, Bruce wrote "(You Will Always Be) My Friend" featured on Shari Ulrich's 2010 album Find Our Way, and co-wrote "My Heart Goes On" with Shawn Meehan of Vancouver country band Mae and Me for their debut album Off the Rails (2015). |
